Gross Weight
Refer to the BELL 206L-1 LONG RANGER II CASA HANDBOOK page 4 for information about Weight Limitations regarding maximum approved gross weights for takeoff and landing.
When loading the B206L, the aircraft weight must not exceed its maximum internal gross load limit of 4050 lb (1837 kg). Landing gross weights above 4050 lb should not be imposed on the aircraft landing gear.
External loading the B206L, the aircraft weight must not exceed its maximum external gross load limit of 4250 lb (1927.8 kg) and/or cargo hook weight limit.
Calculating Gross Weight
- To find the aircraft total weight, simply add up all weights placed into the aircraft.
- The Helicopter Empty Weight and Oil Weight can be found at the top of the first collum on page 26 or 27 of the Handbook.
- If a pilot weight is not provided, assume 170 lb or 77.1 kg as a minimum ballast weight for the front seat (page 5).
- All other weights are given within a scenario.
Internal Loading
Helicopter Empty Weight + Oil + Pilot + Passengers + Cargo + Fuel + any other items.

Example:
- HEW = 2250lb
- Oil = 13lb
- Pilot = 170lb
- Passengers = 540lb
- Cargo = 30lb
- Fuel = 669lb
Total = 3672lb
How much more weight can be added to the helicopter?
Subtract the Current Gross Wt from the Max Allowable Wt found in the handbook.
- Max allowable gross weight = 4050lb
- Current gross weight = 3672lb
Total amount that can be added internally = 378lb
External Loading
Helicopter Empty Weight + Oil + Pilot + Passengers + Cargo + Fuel + any other items.

Example:
How much external weight can be added to the helicopter?
- HEW = 2250lb
- Oil = 13lb
- Pilot = 170lb
- Cargo = 30lb
- Fuel = 669lb
Total = 3132lb
How much more weight can be added to the helicopter externally?
Subtract the Current Gross Wt from the Max Allowable Wt found in the handbook.
- Max allowable gross weight = 4250lb
- Current gross weight = 3132lb
Total amount that can be added externally = 1118lb
When you have calculated a total gross weight for the helicopter, you can use it through out the B206L handbook performance graphs.
